Bernard Arnault is a French businessman and art collector who was born on March 5, 1949, in Roubaix, France. He is the CEO of LVMH, a luxury goods company that owns more than 60 brands, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Fendi, and Givenchy.
Arnault graduated from École Polytechnique in 1971 with an engineering degree, and then went on to study at the École des Mines de Paris. He started his career in 1971 as an engineer with Ferret-Savinel, a construction company. He later worked for the French government as an administrator of the Finances Ministry.
In 1984, Arnault acquired the fashion house Christian Dior with the help of a group of investors. He then became the CEO of the company and began expanding its operations, eventually creating the LVMH group in 1987. Under Arnault's leadership, LVMH has grown into the world's largest luxury goods company, with a portfolio of brands that includes Moët & Chandon, Hennessy, and Bulgari, among others.
Arnault is also known for his passion for art, and he has an extensive collection that includes works by Pablo Picasso, Yves Klein, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, among others. In 2019, he opened the Fondation Louis Vuitton, a contemporary art museum in Paris that showcases his collection.
As of September 2021, Arnault's net worth was estimated to be $191.3 billion, making him one of the richest people in the world. He has received numerous awards and recognitions for his business achievements, including being inducted into the Legion of Honour, the highest order of merit in France, and receiving the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic
